Level and Learning
I’m a beginner; will I be able to do it?
Each model indicates the required skill level needed to complete it. A brief description helps to understand who can tackle the project, and there are also small kiwi icons for a quick reference. For more information, you can read the section “With this model’s instruction booklet, you will learn,” where the technical challenges are listed.
I already have a good level in sewing, are there models for me?
There are options for all levels! Just look at the brief description accompanying each model and the Kiwi icons. Also, for very advanced levels, I’ll soon be offering patterns without assembly instructions.
How do I choose a model?
You can choose based on your interests, the materials you have at home, your level, or all of these! When the selection of models grows, I’ll add filters to help you with your choice.
How do I know what I’ll learn?
Each model includes a section at the bottom that says “With this model’s instruction booklet, you will learn.” Here, you’ll find the project’s key skills and features.
Try to vary your selections to become more independent in your creations.
Instructions and Explanations
I don’t understand the instructions; what should I do?
While I try to explain everything as clearly as possible, some steps may not be clear. If you have trouble understanding, please feel free to reach out through the website’s contact page. This will help me improve the instructions!
I think there’s a mistake in the instructions.
Since I manage this on my own, mistakes are possible. I would appreciate it if you let me know so that I can correct them. Please contact me through the form.
I noticed a typo…
As mentioned above, I’d be glad to improve the experience I offer. Please contact me!
Technical Vocabulary
What is the fabric width?
It’s the width of the fabric roll, usually 1.20m, 1.40m, 1.50m, 1.60m, etc. When I specify fabric requirements, it’s based on a 1.40m width (the most common).
What is the grainline?
The grainline is indicated by a line or arrow on each pattern piece. It shows the direction in which the piece should be cut on the fabric, placing it parallel to the fabric’s grain.
Downloads
What does each model include?
Each model includes:
-Patterns in the specified sizes for A4 printing, so you can start the project immediately at home.
-Patterns in the specified sizes for A0 printing, which you can print at a print shop to avoid the “taping” phase.
-An illustrated assembly instruction booklet.
Are there printed versions available?
Not yet, but they’ll be available soon! I’d like to offer the option to purchase a printed version of each model in a packet format. Subscribe to the newsletter to stay informed.
Where can I find the files to download?
After each purchase, an email is sent automatically with the three downloadable files. If you don’t see it, check your spam folder!
And you can also find them in your client area.
I can’t download the files anymore. Why?
After purchasing a model, you have 60 days to download the files. After that, they’re no longer available. If it’s a bug, please contact me!
Printing and Sizes
A4 and A0 printing options, which do I choose?
Both have their pros and cons. With A4, you can print immediately if you have a printer at home, even on a whim on a Sunday! The downside is that you have to tape the pages, which can be a bit tedious, especially if the model has large pieces.
With A0, you avoid this step, but you’ll need to go to a print shop (unless you have an A0 printer at home!).
What settings should I use when printing in A4?
To ensure correct scale:
-A4 paper
-Borderless printing
-Scale to 100%
-Actual size (DO NOT select “fit to paper” or “scale to fit”)
Print only the first page with the 10 cm test square and check that it measures exactly 10×10 cm. If it does, go ahead and print the rest.
How do I tape A4 pages together?
Each page is numbered in reading order (from left to right and top to bottom). You need to assemble them using adhesive tape or paper glue. You’ll notice that each page features a rectangle with a margin all around it.
To join two consecutive pages, align the lines in the margins by overlapping them.
How to show/hide layers?
In Acrobat Reader: click on the hamburger menu, then View / Show/Hide / Side Panels / Layers.
So you can print the size you wish.
In Xreader: click on View / Side Panels and select “Layers” from the dropdown menu.
For other programs, please check the instructions on their help page.
When printing in A0, should I print all sizes or just one?
If printing in A0 is easy for you and you’re sure of your size, then print only that one to simplify things! Otherwise, I recommend printing all sizes and then tracing the one you want to sew.
If I print all sizes in A0, should I trace the size I want or cut it out directly?
This depends on how sure you are of your size, whether you only want to make one size, and how easy A0 printing is for you.
How do I trace the patterns?
You can use manila paper (a bit thicker than tissue paper), tissue paper (more fragile), or white kraft paper. In general, you can see through these papers well.
If your table is white, it’s even easier; otherwise, you can use a white paper tablecloth.
You can also find tracing paper in rolls.
Materials and Equipment
What materials do I need?
For the patterns: pencil, eraser, scissors, and sometimes glue or adhesive tape.
For sewing: sewing machine, thread, needles, pins, erasable pen or chalk, seam ripper, and other useful tools.
Then there are materials specific to each model, like fabric and supplies (buttons, zippers, hooks…), which are specified in both the website description and the instruction booklet.
Where can I find supplies?
In fabric stores and haberdasheries. I strongly recommend supporting local businesses. In addition to offering quality materials, they can advise you on easier-to-handle fabrics, how much fabric to buy, and the effect of different choices. And of course, there are many online stores that sell these products.
The fabric width is different from 140 cm, how much fabric should I get?
If the width is greater than 140 cm, the amount listed is sufficient, and you may even have a bit extra.
If the width is less than 140 cm, you’ll need to buy more than indicated. You can try calculating it yourself or ask your fabric store for advice.
Support and Customer Service
I think I didn’t receive all the files, or they’re not the correct ones. What can I do?
Don’t hesitate to contact me. I’ll reply as soon as possible so you can start enjoying your product.
Is there after-sales service?
If you have questions, doubts, or problems related to the products, the website, or the newsletter, please write to me!
Can I get a refund?
When you purchase a pattern, an automatic email is sent to you with the files. As these are intangible products (patterns and booklets purchased in PDF format), the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised in accordance with Article L 121-20-2 of the French Consumer Code.
In which languages are the patterns and instructions available?
The website and the booklets are in three languages: French, Spanish, and English.
Are there instructional videos for assembling the patterns?
I designed this method to help you become more independent. In my opinion, videos are very clear but don’t leave enough room for personal experimentation and, therefore, for learning. I firmly believe that instruction booklets are a more suitable tool for making progress.
However, I will occasionally host live free classes to assemble a specific pattern. If you’re interested in this format, subscribe to the newsletter—it’s where I’ll announce the sessions!
How do I get notified when a new pattern is available?
If you follow me on social media or subscribe to the newsletter, you’ll be notified of new releases. So, sign up to be part of the community!
